I think we can all agree that Fahnn is running away with this one, and the logs tell me that the top scorers list is pretty much static.
Couple this with the fact that some people unfairly lost their savages, and I thought I'd offer you a reset (that is, all the scores and mana levels would be set to 0 and your savages would vanish).

I'd also like to try a short-term (say, two months) game with an absolute limit of 25 savages per player. I think that would be quite interesting, as you'd actually have to think about what you were doing, rather than going for 500 savages as quickly as you could.

Did you guys miss me? I guess not but it doesn't matter

Who are currently using any of my banners for this game?

Basically stats go down (still) when you fight.
And they stay down.
And they go negative.
And your uber fighter becomes a wuss.

Now to find a sav with 1/2 way decent stats and pick a fight.

I am guessing that you have not fixed the broken stats that are already on savs...

I never really understood why a sav's fight stat should be affected by fighting in the first place - if anything, more fighting should make them better fighters, surely? Sure, energy and health should decline (and possibly also resilience and fitness), but definitely not the fighting skill.

And welcome back, Grim...! On the reset thing, it's nice to have dominated for so long, but it's someone else's turn now. I quite like the idea of a short-term game, too, although the scoring system might need to be tweaked a little. At the moment, spies seem to be the only class capable of scoring big points, which - if you want to top the leaderboard - pushes gameplay in one very specific direction. If the other classes had similar scoring potential, you'd have a wealth of strategies to choose from, most of which aren't worth pursuing under the current system.

Jarak: I can't really tell which stats have dropped, I'm afraid. I'll just whack all yours up. [edit] There you are.

Fahnn: A savages stats drop if it fights more than once per day - otherwise a good fighter could easily nail 100 crappy ones (which, in theory, it would be fighting all at the same time) per turn. It returns to normal at the end of the day. That's the theory, anyway - it seems I made a mistake somewhere.

Nerf the spies, then?

Ah, right, that makes sense. You are a wise master.

Grim... wrote:

I think it's more that spies seem to be able to score multiple bonus points per turn (for spotting enemy savs?) which means that the top level spies can easily score 50 points a go, which is way out of reach for all the other classes. Some sort of restriction (maybe so that they can only score a number of points equal to their level, or something) would seem sensible.

Yes, but that's not sustainable. Find a good spot for a top level spy and they'll rack up mountains of points pretty much indefinitely.

It's alright sweety, this is not a democracy, and even if it was I would apparently be in the minority.

I do have a few general questions:
1. For LS4 is there any way of making a fighting mode and a hippy mode to play the game?

2. would you mind looking at teaching? Because I do enjoy that, but the teaching of a new class really does (almost) nothing for the stats and the teachers level up so much faster teaching stats rather then classes

3. would you mind looking at a defence against meteors, because as a hippy there is nothing more annoying then a random fighter destroying your efforts

4. rather then nerfing spies it would be nice if hippy classes scored more points, like explorers etc

miki's ideas are - as ever - lovely. Despite my fearsome reputation, I am at heart a peace-loving person.

A couple of requests of my own - I know, I am bold:

- Can we have some more inventions? Please? At least something that involves tritanium, anyway. Tritanium must feel so alone and unloved, stockpiled but useless.

- More stats! Or, more availability of stats. I like stats.

- Breeder - as a class - is fairly redundant. Why not scrap it and just have a new short-term order of "Fuck"? All savages can be ordered to "Fight", it's along the same lines (at least it is where I come from).

- Soldier, Assassin and Guard are pretty much the same, and could just be amalgamated.

- Also, can you fix it for me to go on a rollercoaster with my mates, eating ice cream and stuff?

Thanks, Grim...! I know you'll do the right thing.

I think there should be a timer counting down the days until the reset (or hours, minutes, whatever). That way, we could all use our spare mu to have a big meteor festival to mark the last days of this run. Loads of savs would die, it would be great, trust me.

And surely it's better that as many savs as possible die in a glorious meteor blitzkrieg than simply be erased by a stroke of Grim...'s coding finger, isn't it?

i dont really like the neglect thing. one thing that i really enjoyed was setting up an economic base for my savs and leaving them, without orders, just logging on to see how they're doing. also, i don't really like resets because that seems like a waste of work. anti-meteor inventions and a use for tritanium (BUNKERS hint... hint...) seems like a good idea, and there should be more point based strategies. im a more defensive person, and that basically means that anyone with 75k mu to spare could wipe me out with one click. the idea of sav limits is ok, although it may become sorta annoying in terms of dividing work. i personally like having at least 5-7 hunters to prevent starvation and encourage rotting, therefore eating. also, i would like to see a "build x" order which would allow us to order a builder to build ~100 jackets at once, instead of clicking repeatedly. this would also remove the need for autoclicking bots, which i must admit i used at one point for my builders to keep building jackets. (ban me for it, fine, it didn't lead to anything but all my savs dying from neglect). anyway, to end this rant, i think that we need some more inventions, although fixing all the bugs should take priority over future, possibly buggy updates.

I've always been of the opinion that savs would be more fun with lots of short term games, 1-2 months.

I think one strategy could be to create an Apocalypse spell which may take a huge amount of mana and lots of savages to cast, without interruption. If successfully cast this spell would destroy Saville and all the savs on it. The successful caster of the spell and the top 10 players at the end would enter into the LS hall of fame for all time and the game would reset (maybe after a day or two's break to allow any bug fixes and updates).

Speaking of which, will you be preserving the high score tables for posterity, Grim..., like at the end of the last run of LSav2? The countdown to reset equates to 12:00 midnight EDST. That puts it at 5am or 6am in Europe. Can you change to a more reasonable time, say 7:00am EDST (or later)? That puts it around noon (or later) for you folks.

Assuming EDST is the same thing as EST: 7 pm, or exactly 25 hours from now.

Yeah Herman, it's Eastern Standard Time but on Daylight Savings.
We moved ahead 1 hour recently. So, does that make us -5 hours or -4 hours from GMT?

To be honest i'd be ashamed if I was sober enough to intentionally reset a game at midnight on a Thursday night. However, accidently reseting it when drunk is a whole other issue.

God, I'm sorry for the short notice, but I can't do the reset for about a week (optimistic estimate) - due to personal issues.

Sorry to everyone that's gone out in a blaze of glory - if you want to naff off for a week or so that's fine, I'll email everyone when the reset happens anyway.

It's just because we're at a bit of a hiatus in the game, I think, there's not so many people around at the moment. When the glorious reset comes, I'm sure the boards will become more pedantic (and I include myself in the pedants parade, of course - only Correcto cares more about proper spelling and grammar).

Correcto is my special friend.

Personally, I simply figured that iller fell under rule 7 and thus decided to let correcto handle it. That, and I never feel comfortable correcting people since I barely use what's meant to be my first language.

I've remarked upon this in the past, I think, but your command of English is superb, Herman. You're far better at it than 95% of native English speakers and particularly impressive is the way that you understand quite subtle nuances and vernacular. I feel ashamed that I can't speak any other language.

OK then! Oh miki, you're so fine - You're so fine you blow my mind - Hey miki! Hey miki!

Of course the original version by Racey ('Hey Kitty!') is superior. I've seen Racey in a seedy nightclub in Weston-Super-Mare and nearly got thrown out for my loud, repeated drunken exhortations for them to play "Lay All Your Love On Me".

And they never did, the bastards. It was like the Bay City Rollers and "Shang-A-Lang" all over again. These fucking superannuated pop bands are so fucking precious. Play the hits, you cunts, it's what we paid for (OK, didn't actually pay very much for, both gigs were about two quid, but that is BESIDE THE POINT).

But yes, miki, your English is excellent too.

I hope you're talking about early Pendulum, their latest stuff is a bit shite if you ask me. I didn't mind a couple of things from their last album (and they'd done some pretty good stuff before that), but what I've heard from the new album, it seems as though they're just repeating a formula and pushing it ever more mainstream (and the vocals are fucking awful). In many ways they've become the Oasis of drum and bass (yeah, I know they're not really drum and bass anymore, but the analogy is fairly apt).

You'd might like 'Machete' by DJ Hazard though, that's a quality tune.

I know I'm not alone (god damn emokids are like lemmings in too many ways to mention), but it seems most times music is brought up here it's either something which I'm either too young or of the wrong nationality to have much knowledge about, or it's some sort of electronica which, to me, sounds about the same as my computer having a fit.
